  1. Mehmood Zakir

As a beginner who wanted to try macro photography, the Nikon AF‑S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G was a very good pick. It handles close-up shots well and also works fine for portraits and regular stuff.

  2. Talha Asif

I use the Nikon AF‑S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G mainly for food photography and small product shots. The contrast is very good, and colors are vivid. At f/2.8 the sharpness is decent, but things get really crisp around f/5.6–f/8. There’s a little focus breathing when you change focus, but it’s not a big deal for my style. And the bokeh is quite pleasing for such a short macro lens.
